Position Overview:
- The High School Pre-Calculus Teacher position is responsible for educating high school students in advanced mathematics, specifically Pre-Calculus.
- The role emphasizes the development of essential mathematical concepts and problem-solving skills, while also fostering critical thinking and analytical abilities among students.
- The teacher will create/execute pre-determined lesson plans, assess student performance, and collaborate with faculty to enhance the educational experience.
- All Chesterton Academy teachers are employed at-will and operate as professionals within the guidelines established by the Board of Directors, Mission, Vision, and Philosophy of Chesterton Academy of Wichita Falls.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective lessons embodying classical teaching principles
- Build appropriate relationships with the students that develops a passion for learning and a love for God and others
- Assist students in improving skills and study habits
- Effectively assess the academic, moral, and spiritual growth of the students
- Be sensitive to academic and behavioral concerns as they are developing and intervene immediately
- Provide extra tutoring for any student struggling with a subject or skill
- Demonstrate effective classroom management skills
- Compile and maintain all reports and documents required for student records
- Communicate frequently with students and their parents
- Create a welcoming, nurturing, and age-appropriate classroom environment
- Diligently enforce all school policies
- Effectively supervise students during non-academic periods such as lunch, chapel, or study halls
Requirements
- Practicing Roman Catholic and demonstrate a commitment to Catholic secondary education (Preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or a related field (Master's preferred).
- 2+ years teaching experience in a classical school environment (Preferred)
- Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
- Resilient and adaptable and possess strong time management and organizational skills
- Committed to the mission of Chesterton Schools Network and the teachings of the Catholic church.
- A love for his/her subject matter and students
- An understanding of and adherence to Chesterton Academy's mission, philosophy of education, and organizational culture
- Effective interpersonal skills including the ability to interface with students, parents, colleagues and administrators with grace, sensitivity, and flexibility
- The ability to collaborate successfully with faculty, staff and the school board
