A numerical advantage that did not count
The turning point came in the 27th minute, when Umut Eskiköy was sent off for the hosts and Pendikspor played the rest of the match with ten men.
The advantage did not translate into goals. On the contrary, only three minutes after the red card, Hakan Yeşil scored the only goal of the game in the 30th minute, assisted by Efehan Pekdemir.
We had the ball but not the result
We controlled the remaining hour. Possession finished 57-43 in our favour and we led the passing count 526 to 391. We were also ahead on shots on target, 6-3.
Even so, we could not break down a ten-man defensive block and left this Istanbul derby empty-handed.
