Title: Registered Nurse PACU (Pre/Post Ambulatory Surgery)
Department: Perioperative Services / PACU
Type: Travel Contract (Providence Health & Services MSP)
Schedule:

• Day Shift | 4x10 hours

• 11:30 AM 10:00 PM

• Floating required between like perioperative units

• No block schedules
  Start Date: 02/09/2026

We are seeking for an experienced PACU Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment supporting pre-operative care and Phase II recovery for both inpatient and outpatient surgical patients . This unit manages a high-volume surgical population with a 1:3 patient ratio . Epic experience and prior travel experience are required . First-time travelers are not accepted .

• Perform comprehensive pre-op assessments and patient education

• Provide Phase II PACU recovery care through discharge home

• Monitor cardiac rhythms and manage dysrhythmias

• Administer narcotics/opioid analgesics and reversal agents

• Manage patients under various anesthesia types (MAC, general, local, nerve blocks, conscious sedation)

• Conduct pain assessment and ongoing pain management

• Deliver discharge instructions and post-operative education

• Provide care across multiple surgical specialties

• Assist with respiratory therapies including CPAP/BiPAP and breathing treatments

• Document all care accurately and timely in Epic EMR

• Float to comparable perioperative units based on operational needs

• Active RN license (compact license accepted per facility policy)

• Minimum 1 year recent PACU / Pre-Post experience

• Epic EMR experience REQUIRED

• Prior travel experience REQUIRED NO first-time travelers

• Comfortable managing 1:3 patient ratios

• Willingness to float between perioperative units

• Trauma Level II experience preferred

• BLS required | ACLS preferred

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

• 1+ year PACU / Pre-Post / Phase II Recovery experience

• Experience with ambulatory and inpatient surgical populations

• Limited pediatric exposure possible ( 3 4%); travelers assigned to pediatrics only if prior peds experience

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license

• BLS (Basic Life Support) Required

• ACLS Preferred

• Work Settings (Required): Ambulatory/Outpatient, Inpatient, Pre-Post, Phase II Recovery

• Cardiac Monitoring (Required): Dysrhythmia recognition and management

• Surgery Cases (Required): ENT, General Surgery, GYN, Ophthalmology, Ortho, Ortho/Spine, Ortho/Total Joints, Urology

• Surgery Cases (Preferred): Cardiac, Plastics, Podiatry, Robotics, Thoracic, Transplant

• Medications (Required): Narcotics/Opioid Analgesics, Reversal Agents

• Anesthesia Types: MAC, General, Local, Nerve Blocks, Conscious Sedation

• Pre/Post-Op Care (Required): Pre-op assessment, pre-op education, pre-op medications, post-op procedures, discharge instructions

• Professional Skills: Pain assessment & management

• EMR: Epic (Required)
