Job Description

Butcher N’ Barbeque is looking for an experienced and passionate Pit Master to join our team. The Pit Master will be responsible for managing several aspects of our barbecue operation, ensuring the consistent preparation of high-quality, flavorful meats that are the cornerstone of our menu. This role requires expertise in smoking and grilling techniques, a deep understanding of BBQ traditions, and the ability to maintain high standards in a fast-paced environment.  

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:  

• None.  

Duties/Responsibilities:  

  • Select and inspect meat cuts to ensure the highest quality. 
  • Prepare meats by trimming, seasoning, marinating, or brining according to company recipes and standards.
  • Operate and maintain smokers, grills, and other BBQ equipment. 
  • Monitor cooking processes to ensure meats are cooked to the correct temperature, flavor, and tenderness.
  • Adjust wood, charcoal, and temperature settings as necessary to maintain consistency.
  • Ensure all meats are cooked to meet our quality standards.
  • Manage cooking schedules to ensure meats are ready for peak service times.
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth service and timely delivery of orders.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all equipment is sanitized and operational
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to management immediately.

Required Skills/Abilities:  

  • Deep understanding of BBQ techniques, smoking processes, and different types of meat cuts. 
  • Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks. 
  • Familiar with industry’s best practices Excellent communication skills. 

Education and Experience:  

  • High school diploma or GED. 
  • Valid Food Handlers Certificate. 
  • 3 years previous experience as a Pit Master or similar role required. 

Physical Requirements:  

  • Remain standing for extended periods of time. 
  • Bending, squatting and lifting up to 50 lbs. for short distances. 
  • Ability to work with varying noise levels
