Carilion Clinic is searching for a Pediatric Hospitalist to join the existing pediatric hospitalist team at Carilion Children's Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia. Carilion Children s is part of Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, a 763-bed teaching/tertiary care center with Level 1 Pediatric Trauma care. The 24-bed pediatric unit provides care for over 1,500 patients annually and is the only dedicated unit for children and adolescents in the region. The region's only PICU is an 8-bed pediatric unit that is fully staffed by intensivists and provides specialized medical and nursing care to more than 500 critically ill or injured infants and children annually. The hospitalist team provides daytime in-house coverage for the inpatient pediatric unit, with overnight call from home on a 1 in 4 basis. Upper-level pediatric residents provide in-house 24/7 coverage for the inpatient unit as well as ER consultations. Teaching and the supervision of medical students and residents is part of our core mission.
Serving as a tertiary referral center for 1.5 million in southwest Virginia, the facility provides a full range of pediatric services, excluding open-heart surgery and ECMO. Neonatologists at Carilion Children's staff the 60-bed NICU, the regions only Level III NICU. Hospital-based pediatric specialists include Allergy, Anesthesia, Behavioral Health, Cardiology, Clinical Genetics, Developmental Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Hematology & Oncology, Intensivists, Neonatology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Pulmonary, Psychiatry, ENT and Surgery.
