Job Description

Payroll Analyst

Location: Everett, WA 98204

Duration: 5 Months

Position Summary
The Payroll Analyst will provide payroll support for a large workforce, ensuring accurate and timely pay. This role requires careful attention to detail, compliance with labor regulations, and the ability to resolve payroll discrepancies. The analyst will interact regularly with employees, supervisors, and finance teams.

Key Duties

  • Input and validate payroll data, correcting discrepancies when identified.

  • Review bi-weekly payroll runs, reconciliation reports, and supporting documentation.

  • Maintain organized payroll files and assist with archival processes.

  • Enter and confirm timekeeping records in compliance with laws and policies.

  • Respond promptly to payroll-related questions and requests.

  • Reconcile deduction reports, prepare vendor payments, and assist with GL reviews.

  • Administer special pay items such as FMLA, PFML, disability, and workers’ comp.

  • Investigate payroll variances, obtain approval, and resolve issues quickly.

  • Perform related payroll tasks as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of payroll processing experience using payroll systems.

  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed to meet deadlines.

  • Associate’s degree or technical certification in accounting/related area may replace 1.5 years’ experience.

  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education considered.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong payroll and accounting knowledge.

  • Understanding of labor law requirements including FMLA and FLSA.

  • Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office Suite skills.

  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and deadline-management skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

Preferred Background

  • Experience with PeopleSoft, UKG, or Trapeze systems.

  • Public sector, union, or transit payroll experience.
