American children have been suffering from falling literacy rates, with 1 in 3 performing below grade level. As an American-owned company, our mission at Air Reading is to make high-quality reading instruction accessible to every child. We partner with U.S. elementary schools to support students most in need of intervention, providing research-based, small-group virtual teaching that accelerates literacy growth.

Air Reading is backed by research. A randomized controlled trial conducted by Johns Hopkins University found that Air Reading students scored significantly higher on reading assessments than their peers. Our program is also recognized as ESSA Tier 1 (Strong Evidence) and is listed by Proven Tutoring, a national initiative that highlights programs with the strongest research backing. This means you’ll be joining a team whose impact is independently verified and nationally recognized.

Responsibilities

• Teach online reading classes using Zoom with groups of up to 4 students in 30–40 minute sessions.

• Be available to teach during school and after-school hours (most classes occur between 6 am and 5 pm PST, Monday–Friday).

• Deliver curriculum provided with clear teaching directions.

• Provide regular feedback about students’ progress.

• Maintain a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes student success.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher).

• Proficiency in using Zoom and related technologies for educational purposes.

• U.S. work authorization.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Bilingual (Spanish/English).

• Degree in education, English, or another subject related to reading and literacy.

• Experience teaching phonics and reading to K–3 student
