Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Technical management position requiring demonstrated supervisory capabilities that combine people, planning, coaching, mentoring, & budgetary skills. Accountable for team, provides direction & support to team members and works closely with Technical Management, Business, Sales, & Marketing to support both short- & long-term business goals. 

Directly supervise QC and technical service laboratory employees. Responsible for Quality Control (QC) and technical service (TS) effort to ensure that the products and services of Italmatch Chemicals meet external and internal requirements, including customer expectations and legal compliance. The position requires the management of rotating shifts to maintain production support.

Key duties include but not limited to the following:

• Capable of high-performance project management
• Able to understand the chemical nature of generic and Italmatch specific component technology and how they affect performance in our areas of application.
• Understands fluid parameters that impact upon product performance
• Guides Sales and Marketing in technology and applications 
• Aware of the purpose for using design of experiment techniques.
• Supervise lab employees; Includes maintaining work schedule, approving weekly timecards, providing necessary training, selecting employees as required. Counsel employees and document performance including semi-annual performance reviews
• Ensure all lab practices are performed in accordance with Italmatch’ Safety and Quality Policies and Procedures
• Troubleshoot analytical methods to ensure accuracy and to reduce method variability
• Develop and analyze repeatability data and general statements for Lab methods, including necessary KPI’s for monthly manufacturing score card
• Establish and maintain quality assurance standards, procedures, and controls: Work directly with supply to schedule and control inspection activities to enforce requirements of specified raw materials, ingredients, products, and any other regulated specifications, and regulatory agencies involved (QP&G/ISO)

General Requirements:  

• Metalworking company/industrial lubricant experience.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
• Essential supervisory skills to foster team environment.
• Experience in determining root cause analysis and providing corrective action and or preventative action within a set of regulated specifications.
• Experience of working within batch chemical manufacturing environment.

Requirements: Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry and 10 or more years of relevant experience. 
• Formulating experience with metalworking fluids, cleaners, corrosion inhibitors
• Previous supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of analytical methods and instrumentation.
• Knowledge of Statistical Process Control techniques.
• Ability to simultaneously organize and supervise a wide variety of projects and tasks.
• Ability to cope with workplace stress.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Must pass Department of Homeland Security background check, pre-placement physical and pre-employment drug-screen.

Working Conditions:

This job operates in a manufacturing setting and professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Some of the work will require exposure to loud noises or fumes in the plant facility, collaborating with officials, plant managers and employees.
