The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Anchorage International Airport, is looking for multiple Equipment Operator, Sub-Journey 1's to help us Keep Alaska Moving!

What You Will Be Doing

The Equipment Operator Sub-Journey 1 handles a variety of tasks essential to the smooth operation and upkeep of the airport and its facilities. They skillfully operate light trucks and small tractors, utilizing hand and power tools. Their responsibilities include transporting supplies and materials vital for maintenance, as well as efficiently loading and unloading trucks.

In addition, they perform manual labor tasks such as clearing ditches and culverts, trimming brush, and contributing to bridge and structure repairs. They are also responsible for erecting and maintaining signs and markers, ensuring clear navigation throughout the airport grounds. They diligently pick up litter and debris on roads, ramps, and airfields, maintaining a clean and orderly environment.

When adverse weather strikes, they swiftly respond by shoveling snow from sidewalks, runway edge lights, and aircraft operating areas, ensuring safe passage for both pedestrians and aircraft. Additionally, they take on groundskeeping duties as needed, maintaining the visual appeal of the surroundings.

In times of emergency, they stand ready to assist the emergency crew, lending their support and expertise to mitigate any potential disasters effectively. They also play a crucial role in the upkeep of air taxi and related service shacks, ensuring they remain in optimal condition for operational needs

Special Note

• This position is also eligible for overtime and shift differential.
• Incumbent must have an Alaska Driver’s license per State of Alaska LTC Competency Specifications and maintain throughout employment. Per State of Alaska, DOT & PF Policy and Procedure #08.02.010 Subpart A, Employee must notify their supervisor and their main office in the event of a traffic citation or any other offense against their driver’s license. Loss of license is grounds for immediate dismissal.
• Incumbent must successfully undergo and pass both a fingerprint-based criminal history records check revealing no disqualifying criminal offenses as listed in 49 CFR Part 1542 and a TSA security threat assessment to obtain and maintain an airport ID badge.

AIRPORT SECURITY BADGE

Candidates for this position must be eligible for an airport identification badge in accordance with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations (49 CFR 1542)(Download PDF reader) which requires fingerprinting and a criminal background check. The successful applicant must pass a fingerprint-based criminal history record check as well as a comprehensive background investigation, along with a Transportation Security Administration Security Threat Assessment.

ALASKA DRIVER'S LICENSE

This position requires the incumbent to possess and maintain a State of Alaska Drivers.
