Job Description

Role Summary

Revamp Engineering is seeking a Design Engineer I to join our growing team of renewable energy professionals. This position is ideal for engineers seeking to build foundational experience and make an impact in the energy transition by designing large-scale solar and battery energy storage (BESS) projects.

The Design Engineer will contribute to the design and documentation of renewable energy systems, applying fundamental engineering principles under close supervision. This role is an opportunity to develop multidisciplinary technical skills while working alongside experienced engineers in structural, electrical, civil, and power systems design.

Duties & Responsibilities

Technical Design and Documentation

  • Prepare engineering design drawings, details, and calculations for renewable energy and substation projects.
  • Develop and revise CAD drawings, one-line diagrams, and design documents for solar and BESS systems.
  • Perform design tasks on small projects or assigned portions of larger projects.
  • Apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to accomplish assigned work as part of a broader project team.
  • Ensure compliance with company, industry, and jurisdictional standards, practices, and codes.

Collaboration and Learning

  • Work under the direction of more senior engineering staff.
  • Participate in internal design reviews and interdisciplinary coordination meetings.
  • Receive close supervision and thorough review of completed work for accuracy and professional judgment.
  • Actively develop knowledge of renewable energy systems, including PV modules, racking, inverters, transformers, and Balance of Systems (BOS).

Execution and Professional Development

  • Perform essential duties, including submitting deliverables and assigned tasks on time and in accordance with Revamp's quality standards.
  • Maintain organized project files and follow company documentation procedures.
  • Participate in training and mentorship programs designed to advance technical and professional growth.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, civil, structural, architectural, or related engineering discipline—or relevant associate's degree plus 4+ years of applicable experience.
  • Some experience (including academic, internship, or professional) designing and drafting with AutoCAD or similar tools.
  • Foundational understanding of renewable energy system components and design fundamentals.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks under supervision.

Preferred

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Experience with PV or BESS design projects, including exposure to engineering software or modeling tools.
  • Familiarity with NEC, ASCE, or other relevant standards
